Pros

• Customers believe it is more kid, pet and environmentally friendly (this is not always the situation)
• Increasing culturally popular
• Expanded application areas such as boat docks, over water, marshes, etc.
• Some can be applied to/around crops and gardens
• A pleasant odor is left behind after an application (30% of customers like the smell)

Cons

• Less effective than their synthetic counterparts (they break down more quickly or are only effective at time of application)
• Often more expensive than the synthetic counterparts
• Sometimes they have increased phytotoxicity (poisonous to plants)
• Products tend to be “broad spectrum” (meaning they are made to control all types of insects instead of synthetics that are made to be more target pest specific)
• An offensive odor is left behind after an application (70% of customers do not like the smell)
